ARTICLE 1 – ORGANISER

MaMA, whose head office is located at 46 rue Bouret, 75019 Paris, represented by Magali Rossignol-Colling, manager, hereinafter referred to as “MaMA”, is organizing a call for entries entitled “Call for pitch-session entries” and a prize-giving ceremony entitled “MaMA Invent Riffx Prize”.

 

 

ARTICLE 2 – SUBJECT

 

The call for entries for the MaMA Invent Riffx pitch session is designed to select 6 innovative projects, products or services for the music industry.

The “MaMA Invent Riffx Prize” will be awarded to the best innovative project, product or service of 2023, from among the 6 projects selected for the pitch session.

 

 

ARTICLE 3 – PARTICIPATION TERMS AND CONDITIONS AND TIMETABLE

 

  • 3.1 CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

 

This call for applications is open to private structures (start-ups or older companies offering new solutions, products or services); SA, SAS, SARL, EI, EURL, SCIC, SCOP; created or in the process of being created.

The structure must have been in existence for a maximum of 8 years.

The innovative project, product or service can be a web or mobile application, software, a platform, a marketplace, an object… It can incorporate new technologies (artificial intelligence, VR, blockchain, Saas…) but also innovate socially, by proposing collaborative processes or structuring itself in cooperative mode, for example. In addition, the innovative character of a project will be assessed according to the originality of its entrepreneurial approach in the music sector, to the exclusion of artistic projects.

 

3.2  TIMETABLE

 

Timetable for the call for applications :

  • Launch date for the pitch-session: June 30, 2023
  • Deadline for receipt of applications: August 23, 2023 at midnight (Paris time)
  • Applications will be analyzed by the organizer, MaMA Invent, to verify compliance with the criteria set out in article 3. Conditions of participation.
  • Jury meeting to select 6 products or services
  • Announcement of the 6 selected products and services: Friday, September 22, 2023
  • Pitch-session MaMA Invent Riffx at the Trianon: Friday, October 13, 2023 between 1pm and 3pm
  • Jury meeting to select the winner after the pitch session
  • Award ceremony on Friday October 13, 2023 between 6pm and 7pm at Elysée Montmartre.

 

ARTICLE 4 – PARTICIPATION MODALITIES

 

Applications can only be submitted via the dedicated web page on Riffx.fr, accessible at https://riffx-concours.fr/. Applications must be submitted no later than midnight (Paris time) on August 23.

To submit an application, the project owner must complete all mandatory fields on the form in English or French.

Each applicant may submit only one application.

Participation in the call for entries for the pitch-session automatically implies entry for the MaMA Invent Riffx Award.

Participation in this call for entries and the prize is free of charge.

Any incomplete form will invalidate the entry. The participant accepts that the information entered in the registration form is proof of his/her identity. Any identification or participation that is incomplete, erroneous or illegible, or made in a form other than that provided for in the rules, will be considered null and void.

MaMA undertakes to set up a system for participation in the pitch-session and cannot be held responsible for the receipt or non-receipt of applications.

Applications must be submitted on https://riffx-concours.fr// no later than midnight (Paris time) on August 23, 2023.

 

ARTICLE 5 – THE JURY

Jury members are professionals or personalities working in the field of contemporary music, technology and media.

In the event of a jury member having a link of any kind with a candidate, that jury member will not take part in the selection vote.

The jury’s task will be to select the 6 project leaders taking part in the pitch sessions, as well as the winner of the MaMA Invent Riffx prize, according to the criteria set out in article 6.

 

ARTICLE 6 – SELECTION CRITERIA

 

The jury will examine all complete applications submitted via the form on the dedicated web page.

 

Applications will be evaluated by the jury according to various criteria:

  • Innovative nature of the project (score out of 5)
  • Viability of the business model (out of 5)
  • Quality of the technology/solutions presented (out of 5)
  • Societal utility (public) or professional utility for the contemporary music sector (out of 5).

At the end of this examination, the jury will select the 6 project leaders with the highest scores according to the above criteria.

Each of the 6 finalists will present their project, product or service in 6 minutes to the jury and professionals during the MaMA event. The presentation will be in English.

 

At the end of the pitch sessions, the jury will meet to evaluate and select the winner of the MaMA Invent RIFFX Award according to the following criteria:

  • coherence and clarity of the presentation in relation to the information received at the time of application (score out of 5)
  • quality of answers given to the jury and professionals (out of 5)
  • personal assessment by the jury (out of 5)

The project, product or service with the highest score will be rewarded. Beyond that, participants are not ranked.

In the event of a tié between candidates at the end of the pitch-session, the jury president will select the winner.

The jury’s decisions are sovereign and cannot be contested.

 

 

ARTICLE 7 – PRIZE MaMA Invent Riffx

 

The winner of the MaMA Invent RIFFX Prize will receive a visibility package at MaMA 2024:

  • A 3-day corner at MaMA Invent
  • A workshop to present their project, product or service
  • An information email sent to accredited professionals in 2023
  • 3 pro passes for the 2024 edition

Value of the package: €8,000 excluding VAT

The winner will receive the prize at the MaMA 2023 press conference on Friday, October 13, between 6 and 7 pm. The presence of a duly mandated recipient is required for the award ceremony.

 

 

ARTICLE 8 – COMMUNICATIONS

 

8.1 CANDIDACY REQUIREMENTS AND OBLIGATIONS

 

Within the framework of internal or external communication actions related to the “Call for pitch-session applications”, candidates authorize in advance, for a period of one year from the date of their application and for the whole world without being able to claim any right or remuneration or indemnitý whatsoever, MaMA to broadcast to the public the description of their projects and quote their names and logos.

Candidates hereby waive all rights to their image and name solely for the purposes of this competition.

Participation in this competition implies full acceptance of the rules. The rules will be available for the duration of the call for entries on the dedicated web page.

 

8.2 WINNER OBLIGATIONS

 

In the context of internal or external communication actions related to the “MaMA Invent Riffx” prize, the winner authorizes in advance, for a period of one (1) year from the award of the prize and for the whole world without being able to claim any right or remuneration or compensatioń whatsoever, MaMA to:

  • quote their name (personal and/or company) and logo;
  • report on their actions and projects;
  • use and distribute the videos and photographs that may be taken during the awards ceremony and their names; in all forms and by all processes known and unknown to date, and on all current or future MaMA media and without this list being limitative.

The winner hereby waives all rights to their image and name, solely for the purposes of this prize.

 

8.3 JURY OBLIGATIONS

The members of the jury and all persons having access to the files for the purposes of this prize undertake to keep all information confidential.

 

8.4 technology information regulations and artistic license

To enter the competition, candidates must provide certain personal details (name, address, e-mail address, etc.). This information is recorded and saved in a computer file and is necessary for the selection of the winners.

In accordance with French law no. 78-17 of January 6, 1978 on data processing, data files and individual libertieś, candidates have the right to access, oppose and rectify any information provided, by writing to contact@mama-event.com.

 

 

 

ARTICLE 9 – CANCELLATION AND LITIGATION

In the event that the call for entries and/or the prize-giving ceremony cannot take place, MaMA will cancel the competition ipso jure, without formalitý, without recourse from anyone and without compensation. MaMA reserves the right to modify the present rules by communicating changes to project holders who have already applied.

 

Any disputes and/or challenges to these rules will be settled by MaMA.
